Job Description

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
To promote the sale of the company’s Analytical Systems products within assigned territory in order to meet budgeted sales goals, covering the territory in its entirety by performing the following duties. Other duties that fall within the skill requirements of the job may be assigned.
1. Travels throughout assigned sales territory to call on established and prospective customers to create demand for Metrohm products and/or solicit orders. This activity includes both personal visits and contact by phone.
2. Follows up and processes sales leads, based on information received from company trade shows, marketing campaigns, telephone inquiries and other sources. Develops list of prospective customers on a local level.
3. Demonstrates product samples to end user customers.
4. Attends trade exhibits and distributor shows for the purpose of promoting products.
5. Maintains and updates company data as requested on the CRM.
6. Has budget responsibility for all salespersons in the assigned sales area
7. Supervises assigned salespersons, evaluates performance, and provides training-related sales techniques and time/territory management whenever needed.
8. Establishes individual goals and acceptable levels of performance.
9. Executes various elements of the marketing plans in coordination with marketing management.

Requirements
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE: Bachelor’s degree (B.A.) from a four-year college or university;
or one to two years’ related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education
and experience. Preferred is Chemistry / Chemical Background.

LANGUAGE/COMMUNICATION SKILLS: Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations. Ability to write business correspondence and reports. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from customers, dealers, and company personnel.

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS: Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, commissions, percentages, and volume. Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and the metric system.

REASONING ABILITY: Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of variables. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.

DRIVER’S LICENSE AND DRIVING RECORD: If your work requires operation of a motor vehicle, you must present and maintain a valid driver’s license and a driving record acceptable to our insurer. We will randomly pull Motor Vehicle Reports on all drivers and, if any discrepancies are found, will investigate them fully. Any changes in your driving record must be reported immediately to the Fleet Administrator, and to your manager. Failure to do so may result in disciplinary action, up to and including possible termination.

CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS: Good credit standing and credit card to pay business travel expenses.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS: The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk and hear, and may be required to use hands to finger, handle, or feel. The employee frequently is required to walk, sit, and reach with hands and arms. The employee is occasionally required to stand. The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 50 pounds and up to 100 pounds as required. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, and peripheral vision.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is occasionally exposed to moving mechanical parts, fumes or airborne particles, toxic or caustic chemicals, risk of electrical shock, and risk of radiation. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate, but may occasionally be excessive.
